Briefly, once you get an appointment the GPS and nurses are world-class. The problem lies in getting to see them. The new appointment system puts up an almost insurmountable barrier and I've been forced to call 111 three times in the last 1 1/2 months to get an URGENT appointment. Each time, 111 approved my request and I got an appointment at the surgery on the same day, and excellent treatment
In the first instance, I was immediately sent to a hospital to check out for a deep vein thrombosis!
After a recent in-surgery test I was promised a phone call to explain the results, which were bad. Not getting one, I called the surgery today and was told that a letter had been sent to me suggesting that I called the surgery to arrange for a phone consultation. I was told that the earliest one would be August 7th - in 11 days.
I'm worried about my leg condition, but that didn't make any difference to the receptionist. I am forced once more to go the 111 route.
I didn't think this was the purpose of the NHS 111 service.
