"Desperately upset patient. Family disgusted..."

About: Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

Approached my GP Jan 2018 with request for support with mental health issues.

Referral made by caring and understanding GP.

Waited weeks for a response and assessment appointment.

Seen by nurse who seemed more interested in own well being and status than mine.

Was refused treatment.

However, my GP pushed for re assessment.

Seen by another nurse who was clearly out of her comfort zone and abilities questionable.

Again complained and informed CCG and my MP. Following this I was seen by CPN and Psychologist and HTT.

Agreed that treatment was appropriate.

4 months has now passed with 2 suicide attempts and breakdown of matrimonial relationship, loss of job, and deteriorating mental and physical health.

I was allocated a care coordinator and have never had any meaningful or therapeutic contact. Still no discussion re medication or psychiatric assessment.

Therefore more complaints with MP and other organisations involved. Very soon after I was assessed by a psychiatrist. This assessment was extremely challenging, not person centred and unfruitful. No historical context or attempts to discover the core long term issues I have.

Despite pleading for treatment that is meaningful and relative to my mental health and presenting condition I was offered medication and still no therapeutic intervention. We are now fast approaching August and I'm still waiting for medication that was recommended by psychiatrist. Still waiting for veterans mental health service to contact me. I phone regularly to chase this up with no response. Still desperately ill and feeling that there is little chance of recovery. Today received the psychiatric assessment outcome letter. It is obvious from the errors and misinterpretations that the professionals in that assessment were not fully engaged with the process. Everything that meant so much to me at that appointment was not mentioned or completely disregarded. This letter was hurtful and scathing in its content and context.

My self worth and self esteem which was minimal is now non-existent. Again I am left desperate and isolated and wondering what should I do next?

This is a terribly poor service that needs inspecting by CQC, taking to task by the CCG and made accountable for its pitiful attempts at fulfilling its contractual and statutory requirements.

Disgraceful and shameful.
