I have Diabetes among other chronic conditions. It is impossible to see the senior doctors (always on leave when I request an appointment).

I have been seeing the Diabetes Specialist in recent months, reassuring since I lost my brother to diabetes related illness. I had to cancel one appointment because there was another bereavement in the family, a nephew had a heart attack aged 49. My family all live in Wales, so things like funerals I need at least two days to be there. I called in the surgery to cancel and was given another for two weeks later. Unfortunately, I got my days mixed up and missed the appointment ( used to be given a text reminder the day before, but no longer).last week, got a message to contact surgery, but they were unable to help because the diabetes nurse had not replied to them in a week! Another week gone by and get another text requesting I ring the surgery. After hours of ringing I finally got through this morning.

To be told the Diabetes specialist had discharged me because I missed two appointments. I have now been given an appointment to see regular nurse, in two weeks time! Obviously, Diabetes is not a priority, given my family history of diabetes and heart problems.

Wish I could change surgeries, but not an option. I have lived in Blidworth over forty years and the service gets worse and worse. They used to have five senior doctors and now down to two. It must be two years since I last saw my named doctor.
