About: Northampton General Hospital (Acute) / Accident and emergency

I was taken in as an emergency with euglycemic DKA due to Empagliflozin. The emergency staff were faultless. Problems occurred when I was put in eau. I get agitated around noise and I asked for a "cupboard" to be on my own. I was told that there was no room anywhere in the hospital.

My dignity was stripped away and I was treated badly. There were male nursing assistants on the women's section and female on the men's performing intimate procedures. One male in particular was extremely rude and persisted in whistling around me when I asked him, politely, to stop as I have a phobia about noise and whistling in particular. There were no windows in my section. When patients pressed their buzzers they were ignored. I was given paracetamol even when I said that I did not take it. I was forcibly given insulin by injection. Had they left my meds with me there would have been no need but I was not given access to my meds and blood sugars went up to 34. The food was not suitable for a diabetic and I had to seek out weetabix myself as I was not offered it. Sometimes I had no water in my water jug and I was tutted at for requesting some. Some of the patients were curled up in bed crying and they were not treated with kindness. I tried to discharge myself but was threatened that they would not give me back my meds and I would have to find my own way home. The next day I was discharged and still was told to pay for my own taxi home. I live on my own 17 miles away and I saw hospital transport hovering around so I loudly complained and a taxi was provided. I was told by driver that Hospital had an account so it was just sheer vindictiveness. I questioned and that is frowned upon.
