"Very good care"

About: New Cross Hospital / General surgery

I went in for General Anaesthetic to have 7 teeth removed.

The care was excellent. I can't fault the staff as they were all great.

It took several months to receive treatment

I could have done with a bit more support upfront knowing the following:

1. I had my partner with me for support, and to take me home after the procedure (as I can't drive for 24-48 hrs). There was no request taken for her details and she had no idea where to wait or what to do. As the procedure was expected to be 2-3 hours, it would have been nice to have some information for her.

2. Side effects - I have had no bowel movement for 4 days post G/A. Reading online this is a common side effect. But isn't mentioned anywhere on the NHS website.

I also was informed about dry socket, but could have done with a bit more info to take away with me. Although I've done everything I can to prevent this with salt water as prescribed.

Thank you very much for taking the time to post comments regarding your patient experience. I will share your comments with our staff and wish you well.

In relation to information for your partner and around your side effects, I am sorry for any distress this matter has caused. To enable us to look further into your concerns, I would be grateful if you could contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01902 695362 or rwh-tr.PALS@nhs.net who can assist further.

Kindest Regards
