"Excellent treatment and care."

I would like to congratulate Forth Valley Hospital for their speed in dealing with my Gynaecological treatment. I’ve heard of people waiting months for care but I cannot complain about my experience. 

My G.P. referred me on in late 2017 and I was seen by a surgeon within a month for an investigation, after which I had to have day surgery followed up with a Total Abdominal Hysterectomy. The only concerns I would say I experienced was that the first surgeon retired without my knowledge and I was informed by letter, without any explanation, that a new doctor, a Consultant Gynaecologist, would carry out my surgery, being an Abdominal Hysterectomy and not a Laparoscopy.

I felt a bit disappointed that I was not given the chance to discuss the procedures with my new surgeon as I have other gynaecological problems that might have been dealt with during the same operation. Also, I believe with major surgery you need to bond with and trust the doctor who is carrying it out making one feel you're a person not just a body to repair.

However, on the morning of my surgery the new surgeon came to see me, for the first time, listened to my concerns, and I knew from the open, honest way they answered my questions and explained the reasons for the type of surgery that had been planned, I could trust them, relax and feel happy I was in good hands.

I would like to thank and praise this surgeon and their surgical team for their excellent care during my operation and also the two registrars for their caring, kindness and understanding, making a patient feel at ease in a rather daunting, clinical environment. 

After my hysterectomy I was in ward 8 in a lovely caring environment run by efficient happy staff and the ward was spotless. My surgeon visited me each day and had a wonderful bedside manner.

I had a follow-up appointment recently where my surgeon gave me a thorough examination, carefully listening to my concerns and gave me follow-on advice of how to deal with some of my after effects. I am making a good recovery due to their surgical skill and my abdominal wound has healed beautifully thanks to expert stitching.

I would definitely say Forth Valley has met my health needs quickly and efficiently and I give you top marks for your quality of care.
