"Very disappointed"

My mother has a terminal diagnosis.

Following a poor discharge from hospital in May we eventually made contact with 'ellenor' the palliative care service provider in the Dartford area.

We had to chase them up.

They came and gave details of what service they offer and then made it clear that we need to approach them.

In the meantime they were keen to know of any private insurance/benefit they could approach for funding.

I read their booklet but there seemed to me no care planning or co ordination.

We were left floundering with no support or advice - no one to turn to for help.

This resulted in two admissions to A&E simply because with no support we turned to the out of hours NHS advice line and paramedics....hence the admissions to hospital.

Mum was discharged yesterday but ellenor have not been proactive in phoning today - for the second time, I had to request someone calls - to arrange a care planning meeting and to assess mother's health as she has deteriorated overnight.

As yet the calls have not been returned.

My sister and I feel we are alone in this difficult time.

I am furious that in other areas the palliatives service is more proactive and responsive.
