"Poor doctoring experience"

I had to try yet another different doctor this month as NO appointments free for 3 weeks except for 2 appointments whch were available on consecutive days (in the third week) with 2 male doctors. I would not choose to see this doctor again. Flippant attitude, no examination of injury, only jokey "advice" re hospital treatment-- leaving me none the wiser & concluding it had been a waste of time. No wonder A&E are busy.

As I left surgery reception a very worried woman was querying prescription she had just received from the same doctor.He had issued perscription for her child with a heavier dosage than previously & without any prior warning or explanation. Her child had only recently started trialling the medication due to serious potential side effects.

I am sorry that we could not offer you an appointment which suited you, but note that you did choose to turn down 2 available appointments within the 3 week period you mention. Many practices now have a 3-week wait for routine appointments, reflecting the on-going lack of GPs in England and the continuing under-funding of primary care.

In this particular case, the wait was exacerbated by one of our GPs suffering an unexpected bereavement of a close family member, which necessitated us moving that GP's pre-booked patients into the then available appointments with other GPs.

We do have appointments which are protected for the use for medically urgent issues each day, every day, and so there is no need to misuse A&E.
