About: University College Hospital / Accident and emergency

my Father who is 83yrs has AF. PH, all relating to his heart failure. My father was in urgent need of an ambulance Saturday morning, due to unusual bleeding. The ambulance arrived in about 5to 8 mins, the crew were very professional, caring. They carried out many checks, then made our way to UCH. On arrival, again meet by very caring, understanding, reassuring nurses and Doctors, His blood pressure had dropped to a dangerous level, he was examined then taken to have a camera down his throat, to see where the bleeding was coming from, unfortunately they could not see anything. Once back into AMUC he had gone to the toilet and to my mums horror and some of the nurses, he lost quite a lot of blood. The nurses and all staff on duty that day, were fantastic, caring, and truly concerned for my fathers health, He was immediately given a blood transfusion, then taken for a CT. after he returned, one nurse who had seen what had happened and whose post was not in the area, came to see if my father was ok, and had a little chat with him, it touched my heart to see how caring and understanding all the staff were. It really upsets me, when l see the NHS get so much grieve from the media, about how stretch they are. Well from a daughter who cannot thank those Doctors and Nurses and others enough. You do a fantastic job, which is not always easy, it’s the people who go to A&E with minor ailments, moaning, how long they have been waiting to see a nurse or Doctor. Who should be going to their own GP or walk in clinic, A&E means ACCIDENT & EMERGENCY, not headaches, little bruises, the list goes on much longer than that. It’s the time wasters that take up time and effort from the terrific job all staff in all levels do on a daily bases. THANK YOU SO MUCH
