"Not very helpful"

About: Parkview Surgery

Was given an emergency appointment which was very helpful as I woke up today feeling very ill with high temperature. Receptionists were helpful. Had to wait 50 minutes before being seen by a female doctor. I explained my symptoms to her in which she replied “why are you here, you don’t need to be here” which I thought was extremely rude, I obviously came in because I had a problem. I will definitely be booking in with another doctor next time.

I am sorry to note that your experience during your visit to the practice was unsatisfactory.

Please do contact the practice and try to arrange to see the Practice Manager to discuss your concerns further.

The practice's aim is to ensure that all patients' experience at the practice is a positive one.

From your comments, you were booked into an emergency appointment on the same day and this type of appointment is either slotted between routine appointments or put at the end of the surgery.

Often times, patients come to see the GP with more than one medical condition which lengthens the consultation time and leads to delays in follow up appointments of other patients.

Balancing the importance of attending to patients' medical needs and time management is a sensitive matter which GPs try their best to handle.

When there are emergency situations whereby the GP has to attend to a patient and an Ambulance is required, the delay does cause a ripple effect on consultations and seeing to other patients.

The practice has been faced with a couple of such emergency situations in recent months.
