"Excellent care"

About: Homerton University Hospital / Maternity

I was seen at the Women's Health Centre over a period of two weeks to confirm a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks.

It was never going to be a happy experience, as the news i received wasn't happy news, but the staff were incredibly kind, sensitive and professional. The wonderful care we received made the whole experience more manageable.

My miscarriage was managed surgically at the Women's Health Centre the day after it was confirmed by a sonographer who was very sensitive and took time to explain the results/answer our questions. The nurse practitioner, who carried out the procedure was lovely, explained what was happening the whole time and looked after my husband and me very well.

The lovely nurse who we had seen on all of our previous visits was incredibly kind to us and seemed as though nothing was too much trouble.

She was clearly working in a very busy department, but made us feel as though we were her only patients. I wish I could name her so she gets the credit she massively deserves.

The staff who work in this department do an amazing and very difficult job, and we are hugely grateful to them for their kind and sensitive care.

There was some waiting involved for our appointments, but I know that is due to lack of government funding for the NHS as a whole, rather than the performance of the team.

We are sorry to hear about the reason for using the women’s health centre services. The fact you have taken the time to give us this feedback is sincerely appreciated by the team, who try wherever possible to be sensitive and to explain things to women and their partners when they accompany them. If you wanted to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on tel. 020 8510 7315, or text 07584445400, or email huh-tr.PALS.Service@nhs.net to see if they can help you to identify the individual the PALS eam would be happy to help you, and/or to receive any further comments or suggestions you may have.
