"Drop in clinic is not a drop in clinic"

Thought I might have a broken rib after a bike accident but had been this way for two weeks so didn’t want to use A&E resources on it. Went for the drop in xray clinic advertised on the website only to be told that you have to have a referral. I asked if the clinic could give any medical advice and was told no.

Dear Dan

Thank you for your feedback, I am sorry that the clinic was unable to help you.

As you have said it is a drop in clinic if you have a referral from a clinician, this is to reduce the exposure of radiation but only providing x-rays to patients who have been deemed clinically necessary for an x-ray.

If you are unable to attend your GP and do not feel your symptoms are urgent enough for the Emergency Department there is an Out of Hours Service on Queens Road near Brighton Station.

I hope your issue has now resolved, however please feel free to contact our PALS team should you have any further queries at pals@bsuh.nhs.uk

Kind regards
