"Experience of A&E"

About: Pilgrim Hospital

This was my first experience of an A&E department, it was extremely busy with long waiting times and staff struggling to find treatment rooms. In addition the IT system had failed so they were having difficulty tracking patients. To sit and watch the staff working in such crowded conditions showed me first hand what pressure emergency departments work under. And despite all of this the staff were very professional, smiling and even apologetic for the delays! We should all be eternally grateful for their dedication and stop criticising them for long waiting times and have a bit more patience and respect.

Hi

Thank you very much for your kind words, I will ensure that the staff are made aware of your positive experience in ED. You unfortunately came to ED in the middle of an IT crisis so the fact you speak so highly of the team and their work will mean a lot to us all. We hope as a department, you are now feeling much better.

Kind Regards,

Holly Carter- Matron for Emergency Care.
