I’ve been a patient of Bannockburn Surgery for the past 6 years and the Reception/Admin at this surgery is a disgrace.
Very important: one particular doctor is a wonderful Doctor so no complaint on the medical side.
All apart from one of two of the receptionists are frankly quite unpleasant individuals.
In my experience, when 'greeting' you at the surgery they’ll finish their private conversation first and totally ignore you while you are standing at the desk indefinitely (even though they can clearly see you)…
They will not give you a basic ‘good morning/afternoon’ when they do finally speak to you and will talk to you in a patronising way.
On one occasion I had to pick up a repeat prescription before I had to travel to work so I was on a tight schedule. The receptionist arrived 10mins late and when she finally opened the surgery, in her own good time, there was no apologies and not even a good morning!
On another, a lady came in and went straight to the desk to check in but was quickly and unceremoniously told to use the Self Check In facility.
* Rude and inconsiderate
99% of the time they'll offer you an appointment which is at least a week away (if you are lucky). Only when you do press for an earlier slot will one magically appear much sooner.
* Clearly can’t be bothered to check the next few days so simply go directly to the first blank page in the diary…
Do not expect any compassion either because you'll be disappointed.
Unfortunately when you are at your lowest due to pain, worry, depression, etc. and you get spoken to or treated like you are a burden or an idiot, it does not help your condition.
I always get a knot in my stomach before I have to call or visit the surgery as I am almost certain it is not going to be a pleasant experience having to interact with these people.
They are the first point of contact of the surgery and should be at the very minimum polite and professional . . .
! HAPPY 70th BIRTHDAY TO THE NHS !
"Manners, Compassion, Basic Courtesy = 0"
