OK the worst problem here is getting through on the phone, usually its a waste of time and so to get an appointment I have to take a whole day off work, join a queue at 8am for the reception to open at 8:30 in the hope of getting an appointment.

Once the appointment is made, the only problem is that the appointment usually starts no less than 30 minutes after it was due, but if you're late arriving then the appointment gets cancelled, this is very annoying.

The doctors, nurses and receptionists have always been helpful and friendly.

On one occasion when I did get through on the phone, there were no appointments available but the receptionist arranged a telephone consultation with a GP which was useful and resulted in me seeing someone later that day (which also resulted in an immediate trip to the local hospital), this method worked well in keeping down queues while ensuring that I got the assistance that I needed.

So there you go, its not all bad but the telephone and appointment system could do with some improvement.

We appreciate that the telephone system we currently use is totally unsuitable and our plans are to have a telephone hub based at Lordswood manned by reception staff in the back office both morning and evening.

The system that we will be installing is designed for GP practices and will be much more user friendly.

After three months we will review the new system and if needed will install more incoming lines.

This will also free up the front desk to have to deal with walk in patients only and not the telephones providing a much calmer and quieter experience for patients.

With regards the appointment system we are monitoring this all the time and looking at ways to improve what we can offer our patients.

Unfortunately at the moment due to annual leave of clinical staff and general shortage of doctors in the Medway area I am sure you can appreciate that we are struggling but trying our best to improve availability where we can.
