"Poor service"

About: Stoke Gifford Medical Centre

Went into the surgery to arrange a telephone appt with the doctor which went on smoothly and doctor called me back and prescribed medication which i requested for it to be faxed to boot pharmacy as jhoot pharmacy did not have my previously prescribed meds. Doctor granted my request. On arrival at boot, they too did not have stock of my meds and asked me to take faxed copy of prescription to Tesco pharmacy who might have. Tesco rang surgery to request for original copy of prescription to be faxed to them but the receptionist completely refused demanding for me to come pick up from the surgery. I rang her and explained my situation and that i have been going back and fort just to get the medication but she again refused to fax the precription. I went to the surgery collected the prescription and had to go back to Tesco as jhoot didnt have stock.

Where is dignity and where is going an extra mile for your patients. What a shame and abuse of power

I am sorry to hear about your experience.

There are specific rules that govern how we have to prescribe certain medications and so, without more information, I cannot answer specifically.

It may be that our hands were tied in how we could respond to your request.

I do know that the reception and prescribing teams go out of their way to help people all the time and so I would be surprised and disappointed if it was a case of someone not being helpful enough.

Please contact me at gavin.richards@nhs.net with the details and I can look into this for you.
