I arrived at the walk in centre with my 10 year old son who had sustained an injury in the park by falling off of a swing. I have visited the centre many time before and had positive experiences yet when I arrived a few Sunday’s ago it was SHUT! I was advised that the staff had been moved to St George’s accident and emergency as they had staffing issues and the nurses would be more use there! When I questioned where I should now take my son (who was in agony) I was told (guess) ST GEORGES!
So I’m blocking an emergency unit with a minor injury that could be treated in a MINOR INJURIES UNIT - how does this even make sense?
After seeing all of the TV ad campaignes on when people should go to hospital it seems EXTRAORDINARY that they are closing the doors to the people they are there to help!
I would like to add that the staff there are lovely but it’s obvious they have more than enough on their plates especially as there is only one person sitting on the front desk and sometimes a queue out of the door!
"What a waste of time and NHS Resources"
