What I liked
That we were allowed to leave with a healthy baby
What could be improved
Midwifes should examine and make sure babys presenting ok.
Shouldnt be left so long after waters broke
Induction shouldnt occur if will cause fetal distress
Care on the ward - would have been nice to be offered food in the 3 days i was there
baby care - my baby girls blood was lost that was meant to go to alder hey, so had to have more tests (poor lil thing)
After being kept waiting for 30 hours after my waters had broke they started an induction (once i had returned the hospital for a 2nd time). Two midwifes failed to examine me and i was told that they were busy so i was being given a slow form of induction rather than a drip that i should have (midwifes words). Sent away to have lunch, came back hour later with 3min apart contractions. Next thing i know babys heart rate had dropped and group of doctors ran in, doctor examined me to find the babys foot had dropped out and she was a footling breech baby - something the two midwifes should have known) i should never have been induced. Rushed down corridor still wearing my own clothes, had to tell the surgeon to take knife off my stomach as i wasnt asleep. 14 minutes later my baby girl was born needing oxygen but thankfully perfectly healthy. Im grateful to the surgeons for getting her out safely but it should never have gotten to this point. Got to the ward 4 hours later only for my mum to have to change me out of my bloody clothes as apparently its not the hospitals responsibility, even though i had a cathetar in and was on a drip very arkward for my mum seen as i was still out for the count. Hospital apologised saying it wasnt their greatest day - but should never have happened.
