"Heart Lung Transplant for our son in 1991"

In 1991, our son had a heart and lung transplant, performed personally by the surgeon. The confidence and feeling of absolute safety during his stay at Harefield leaves nothing to doubt. At the time, I remenber saying to my wife that if ever I needed heart surgery, this is the place for me to come. It's ironic but now, in 2018, the time has come for me to have either a heart valve repair, or replacement. If my local hospital cannot provide the service I require, then once again, I will be visiting wonderful Harefield, confident that as with my son, they will deal with my case with similar expertise.

We as a family fought for Harefield, against closure when government wanted to close it - thank God we won!!
