"Suspect sprained ankle"

About: Sevenoaks Hospital

To begin with this review is bad, and i hope the moderator contacts myself,

The event which has been on going for a week now has finally been delt with at another hospital due to lack of information and overall attitude of the staff.

I attended this MIU following advice from my pharmacy who wasnt happy with the colouring of my ankle, so went to sevenoaks MIU to have my ankle looked at, i had arrived with plenty of time 3:30pm to which i wasnt seen by a triage nurse untill 4:15pm with a ankle injury, however no xray was talked about untill being called into the consulation room which by then xray had shut,

The advice given was to rest it and if pain gets worse come back.

By thursday the pain was horrible and kept myself awake so took myself to the Tunbridge Wells hospital where i was in and out including x-ray in 2hrs 20mins, the inital investiagetion looking at xrays showed no break however on review with a dr the had noticed a break.

So a week later down the line the ankle has now had the correct treatment and i felt this experience could have been delt with a lot better if the triage process was reviewed at sevenoaks

I can not thank the Tunbridge wells staff enough

Response from the Clinical Team Leader at Sevenoaks MIU.

Hello

I am very sorry that your visit to the MIU did not meet your expectations. The MIU has become very busy and our waiting times have increased dramatically. We do not operate a triage system because historically 70% of our patients were seen, treated and discharged within 1 hour, so it was not required. Due to the increase in people attending, the waiting times have increased and we are therefore looking at introducing a system that will ensure all patients are initially assessed and that it is safe for them to wait to be seen. Unfortunately x-ray opening times do not match ours so there are times when we are open with no x-ray available.

I cannot discuss your case with you directly as your review is anonymous, so please be kind enough to contact the PALS Team directly so we can discuss this with you in more detail.

Best wishes
