My partner brought me to A&E after coughing up a lot of blood about 8pm, this happened previous night as well when a paramedic attended, as it had stopped and I didn't feel unwell it was decided that I should speak to gp in morning and get some chest xrays done, I came to Salisbury for xrays about 2pm, told to call gp mon for results, on my way home staeted coughing up small clots of blood, called into gp they advised that if I coughed up large amounts again to call emergency services or go to A&E . The assessment nurse I saw was great, we waited to be seen by doctor, the doctor I saw I felt that I was an inconvenience, yes she took bloods and was finding xrays to look at,did obs, but never once smiled at me, the staff nurse on duty was lovely she did my ecg and made me feel relaxed. When the doc returned with my blood results which were all ok and she said that she could not see anything on xrays so I could go home, but must make an urgent appointment with my gp for respitory investigations. I asked what I should do if I started coughing up a lot of blood again as its the weekend, nothing she could do, see my gp urgently, was not reassured with this reply, if this happens again tonight I just sit at home and ignor it, I would like to say that on and off during the day small clots of blood have been coughed up, that's fine I can deal with that, but when you have kitchen towels soaked in blood im noit happy ignoring it until mon. This doctor was very unhelpful !!
