"Felt humiliated by my visit to A&E"

I am 16 weeks pregnant. I have been getting sharp pains in my lower stomach for a few days.

I went to A&E as I was worried about my baby because two days before I went to see my midwife and they couldn't find baby's heartbeat.

The service at the reception and the assesment nurse were nice and polite. But when I went in and the doctor came to see me, they made me feel like an idiot.

I told them I am 16 weeks pregnant and what the problem was. Even though the pregnancy notes were in front of them, they asked me if it has been confirmed in a scan that you are pregnant. They kept asking me loads of questions like how old are you, what is your main concern the pain or the baby? Even though I was telling them I am concerned for my baby as I was scared of what had happened at the midwife appointment.

At the end they said to me you didn't have no pain. I felt they were really harsh and inconsiderate. I would like to take this forward and make sure this doesn't happen again. People don't go to the hospital to have fun, they shoudn't be treated like this.

We have self-respect. This was my first time at Bradford Royal Infirmary. In my whole life I have never come across a doctor like this. Now no matter how seriously ill I am I would think a hundred times before going to the A&E. I would rather suffer at home than get humiliated like this.
