"Podiatry waiting area"

About: Barnstaple Health Centre

This waiting area is very small and box like, with no windows. The door into the hall has to be closed at all times 'because it's a fire door'!

Consequently the heat is unbearable on warm days.

I realise that the building is old and there's not much money available for improvements, but what I am going to suggest is doable.

There are two small speakers on the wall which are neither used or ornamental.

Couldn't a small fan be put up there so that if patients have to wait a long time at least the air would be bearable.

I understand from the receptionists that nothing can be done because the door has to be kept closed.

In other words, files are rules.

This would not be acceptable if these conditions prevailed in the main hospital.

There is not even a cold water drinking facility available,.

There's a notice up near the main reception that says ask a member of staff if you want a drink of water, but most of the podiatry patients don't see that when they arrive.

If this post can be forwarded to those that matter perhaps it would help.......so here's a message for management.

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback regarding the podiatry waiting area at the Barnstaple Health Centre (BHC).

I am sorry that you found the conditions to be unsatisfactory and uncomfortable, and there was a lack of drinking water available during the very hot weather which we have been experiencing.

I have forwarded your comments to the Manager of the BHC and the Head of the Podiatry service to review and provide feedback which I will hopefully be able to pass on to you in due course.

Kind regards

Jayne

Further to my previous response, I shared your comments with the Manager of the Barnstaple Health Centre who would like to thank you for your very valid comments.

As a consequence, the Manager is arranging for a fan to be put up in the Podiatry waiting area, together with a more prominent sign in the reception area regarding the availability of water for patients.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to raise your concerns.

Kind regards

Jayne
