What I liked

I wrote to Frimley Park to thank them for the superb standard of care we all experienced during my wife's stay during the birth of our child. We were struck at the time that care for the patient (and family) pervades everything within the hospital; at no time was bureaucracy, seniority or unnecessary procedure put above the interests of the patient.

As one of many examples, the anaesthetist in our operating theatre, despite having many things to take care of during the caesarean, made sure I (as the husband) could get as close as possible to my wife, even moving a chair for me to make this easier. As I was by some considerable distance the least important of the dozen or so people in the theatre at the time, I was very touched by his genuine concern for me.

Despite many midwives from 3 different wards being involved in our care, at any time each of them somehow managed to remember who we were, who our baby was, what her background was, her current treatment and how her care was likely to proceed over the next few hours. Their approach was not only thoroughly professional, but showed an outstanding level of care towards our daughter and ourselves.
