"Agonising wait for biopsy results"

About: Castle Hill Hospital / Breast surgery

(as a relative),

My wife noticed a lump under her arm. After local GP visit she was booked in for mamagram, ultrasound and biopsy.

After the biopsy we gathered to meet the doctor who immediately informed us "it was something to worry about". At this, everything else that came out of the doctor's mouth wasn't given much attention.

Because of my wife's grave concern, he mentioned mass and something else but to be honest, after those first few words we were struck dumb with shock.

We were taken to the front desk where the youngest receptionist you could possibly imagine struggled to find a time for us to return for the results.

Since then we have received a call saying that the results will now not be known until a week later. This sent my wife into hysteria.

We have had such torture over this, and yet we know that Castle Hill has fine patient care, this waiting is just terrible & agonising.

We have been married since we were 18. She is 57 and I'm 58. She works at another NHS hospital.
