"Air con ?"

About: Nuffield Health, Leeds Hospital

I travelled down to Leeds from Edinburgh to have a gastric band fitted.

I chose the hospital group as I felt they listened to what I wanted done. I had seen a team of bariatric nurses and a consultant in Edinburgh and was advised that gastric bands were not done anymore and that I would need a sleeve.

I therefore chose to travel to Leeds as I felt they were far the better option.

My surgery went well and the surgeon did a excellent job.

I was not happy with the heat in my room . It was worse than unbearable. There was no air con as expected. I was extremely uncomfortable even with a fan blowing in my face. The windows are sealed units .

I complained to the nurses several times but nothing was done . I have never had an issue with such uncomfortable conditions in an NHS hospital and I expect that being a private patient to have a comfortable temperature to recover. As I am paying a lot of money for surgery in a private hospital I find it appalling that the air con is non existent.

Hi Evelyn, thank you for your comments. We are really sorry that your experience was not as you would have expected. We have experienced an issue with our air conditioning and the effects of this have been exacerbated by the recent heat, and we are sorry this has impacted on you during your stay in our hospital. Having identified the issue we are now in the process of updating the building management system that controls the air conditioning, which should mean the issues you have faced are not repeated. Once again please accept our apologies for the discomfort you felt at the hospital. If you would like to discuss the issues you faced further please contact our Matron on 0113 388 2103. Best wishes, Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital.
