"Continuity of care lacking"

About: Stenhouse Medical Centre

(as a service user),

In the last 9 days I have spoken to 4 different doctors at the surgery for a long-running problem which has been going on for nearly three months this year, and is a recurrence of similar symptoms from last year. These have been phone consultations and one appointment resulting from requests for same day advice. Each doctor has said something slightly different, two have told me I have an infection and two told me that I hadn’t. Each one didn’t appear to know what had been arranged by the others and I found it difficult to explain from the start each time. I had an abdominal scan recently, and I was told that I needed to discuss the results with the doctor, but the earliest appointment I was offered was three weeks ahead, with yet another doctor. I just don’t know what to think, there doesn’t seem to be any continuity of care, and in the meantime I am worried about what might be wrong with me.
