What I liked
The hospital put me up for a night under medical supervision without notice after I could not provide a responsible adult to look after me overnight after my full anasthetic.
I found it a warm, friendly, clean, modern environment. I was fed three times too, not including tea and biscuits.
I saw the specialist on a Friday and, given my circumstances, was operated on on the Tuesday.
Excellent.
Anything else?
I actually took sandwiches and a flask as well! And a book. Though you have hospital radio throughout the night (on earphones) and pay per view TV and movies if you want them, all on your own personal internet/phone/gaming console.
I would add that if you have to fast before a procedure, bring some electrolytye tablets, salts or drinks to avoid dehydration/headaches.
"An enjoyable and interesting experience"
