I have been a patient for many years during that time I have been made to feel a nuisance and a possible hypochondriac. On occasions I have been sent for ex-rays or had blood tests but have never felt that the results were analyzed or followed up. Finally, after an appointment with a doctor due to problems walking I was told to take vitamin D tablets. I was admitted to the RUH after a minor stroke and on discharge was told my GP would manage my on going treatment. It became apparent during the appointment the doctor did not know why I was there! I left with no offer of advice or support.
I decided drastic action was necessary - I asked for a copy of my notes for the past 12 months which made interesting reading and only reinforced my decision that I needed to change my doctor's surgery. Within weeks of changing GPS I had ex-rays and an appointment with a physiotherapist. The problem with my mobility is two fold - my spine and hip; I have appointments with a specialist and an MRI scan due with a few weeks. I am having a procedure in a few days to relieve the pain in my spine and help with my mobility.
I would not normally be so public with my private life but felt that by changing doctors the quality of my life has improved immeasurably; so if anyone else has had or is experiencing similar problems then read the reviews on other doctors and surgeries in the area and change!
"A total lack of compassion or caring attitude....."
