I don't have words to express how grateful i am to the team on this department.
I arrived at A&E to be swiftly referred to emergency assessment unit, then the ophthalmology department and they fitted me in on the same morning. The wait was long, but I knew they were fitting me in as an emergency. It turned out that I had a detached retina and they promptly added me to the surgery list the following day.
All the staff at the ophthalmology out patients clinic and on Westminster eye ward were professional, yet caring and compassionate about the care they provided.
What an amazing team of people.
I had a follow up appointment the day after my surgery (Saturday) with a doctor who could answer all of my questions.
I returned the following week and, although had to wait 2 hours to see the consultant, I knew I would be seen eventually in this busy clinic. When I saw the consultant, he was again thorough in his assessment and precise with his explanations.
My treatment is long from over, but I have faith in the staff at The Countess that they will treat me with the same care and kindness they have done so far.
"Thank you"
