"Really well cared for"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Maternity

After my first pregnancy, the experience I had made me very anxious and scared when it came to deliver my second baby. However the midwife who delivered my son couldn’t have done enough for me. She was so calming and caring, and made me feel at ease. With a few complications with me after my son was delivered she was so attentive and talked me through everything that was happening. When it came to the time for her to go home i was gutted, but she gave me a cuddle and a kiss which I thought was such a beautiful touch. Thanks so much. I was transferred to the ward after several hours however they were busy so wasn’t as attentive, and didn’t communicate very well regarding what was going to happen next. All in all a better second experience. Thanks to you all. What you do is amazing.

Dear Anonymous

Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy!

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience of the birth of your second baby, at what must be an extremely busy time for you. I am absolutely thrilled that after being understandably anxious and scared due to the experience of your first pregnancy you received such calming and wonderful care from your amazing midwife. I am sorry that you had a few complications during the delivery of your son but pleased that she talked you through everything that was happening and made you feel more at ease.

I will of course share your kind words, thanks and praise with the midwifery team as well as sharing your valuable feedback regarding the less attentive care and lack of communication you received on the ward about what was going to happen next due to the business of the staff.

As you had such a wonderful connection with the midwife who delivered your son, I would like to share your kind words with her personally if possible, please can you let me know her name, either on here or email me at rch-tr.ppi@nhs.net and I will make sure that your feedback is shared with her direct.

Thank you again for your feedback and I am so pleased that overall you had a much better experience second time round.

With kind regards

Michaela brewer, Patient & Family Experience Coordinator
