Please don't entirely get me wrong, as this hospital does have a lot going for it; however, if you need any extra help and support, don't expect to receive it at Musgrove.
A very bad healthcare experience elsewhere has left me traumatised.. Since last October, I have described symptoms that I believe are consistent with PTSD to at least five doctors (three of them at Musgrove Park). It is clear to me that key staff members have no understanding of the underlying problem, and there has been no meaningful support what-so-ever. I cannot receive the treatment that I need. I have been told that I will die without treatment.
I know there are many reasons why people with mental health problems or developmental disorders die younger than people who don't. The inability of the NHS to provide suitable care and support is surely a major contributory factor.
I realise that it will form part of someone's job to leave a well-intentioned response to this review. Please don't bother. You can assume that whatever you're going to suggest has already been done, and didn't help. Thank you.
(The form asked which department I visited, I'd rather not say. Largely as I think this is an institutional problem, not a departmental one).
"No support available when you need it most."
