I was admitted this week to the Day Surgery Unit for an operation to correct an umbilical hernia. All the staff, literally without exception, provided first class care. Always positive, always helpful, always smiling - from the first contact with reception around 8 until the discharge around 7 hours later. Being in an unfamiliar environment and totally dependent on others is an interesting experience! At each step of the way everything was explained and the Surgeon, Mr Smith and his lead theatre nurse (sorry the sedative must have wiped your name!) were amazing. I could not have wished for better care. A few days later I am well able to be sending these comments!
My only constructive comment relates to the information system - not the people! The written information was inconsistent on minor issues like what to eat/drink before coming in and on what to do with the wound dressing afterwards. A quick call to the Unit resolved my confusion. The Hernia leaflet is dated June 2015 and perhaps just needs a review/update.
These minor issues in no way detracted from the excellent care and attention from dedicated and committed people. Thank you so much for your outstanding personal service and care.
