I had a routine colonoscopy six and a half weeks ago , part of check up due to having a polyp removed 5 years ago and my brother having died from bowel cancer. The staff were fantastic from start to finish. I was reassured by the colonoscopy team, that there were no concerns although a biopsy had been requested on a small section of mildly inflamed tissue. Over 6 weeks have passed and I have still not received any results . When I telephoned the consultants secretary she was v helpful but said they had no results on record.and she did not know where they would have been sent. She said she would try to chase them and phone me back. I am still waiting for that call. !! This comes on top of being told an MRI scan had been requested because, after a hysteroscopy, 7 weeks ago
I was found to have a pre cancerous uterine polyp. After a wait of nearly 2 weeks I discovered no appointment had been requested . That has now been rectified. But if I hadn't chased it I would have still been waiting. Hopefully my situation with regard to both situations is not immediately life threatening but it is so stressful waiting for reults and these situations add too the anxiety and undermine the excellent work of medical staff . Stepping Hill please improve your communications. !!!!!
