In March this year I learned that I had a bowel screening test prove positive for blood. In May I had a colonoscopy that highlighted a cancer in my bowel.  I was immediately apprised of the situation and within a very short course of time I had dates for pre-op assesment, information meeting with the McMillan Cancer nurses and a date for my operation to remove the cancer.

In June I underwent surgery ( a right hemi colonectomy). Prior to the op I was informed in detail of everything that would happen and the possible outcomes. 

I am now at home some 3 weeks after the op having had a minor setback with a post operative bowel obstruction.

The system (screening, discovery and action) worked for me just as it was designed to do. I cannot praise highly enough the dedicated care that I received at the hands of the Staff in Ward B11 in Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert. The tumour was removed successfully with no need for further therapy.

Firstly I am sorry to hear that you’ve had to go through all of this after your positive bowel screening. I am delighted to hear however that you come through it all and now do not require any further treatment.

It is reassuring to hear that your experience with our service, during what must have been a very frightening time, has been a positive one. I am really glad that you felt things were done quickly and that you felt informed throughout the process. It is really great that you have taken the time to tell your story and provide this positive feedback. The team work very hard in difficult circumstances and feedback like this is always very much appreciated.

I will make sure that your feedback is shared with all of the team. Once again thank you and I wish you well with your ongoing recovery.
