On Saturday Sarah and her colleague came to my rescue when I was incapacitated with appalling dizziness. Earlier in the year a similar episode of dizziness resulted in a diagnosis of a minor stroke, this second spell of feeling so dizzy made me more anxious knowing that it could be another stroke. My daughter initially called the emergency services for an ambulance but as I started to recover and feel better she cancelled the emergency ambulance and called 111 for advice. My daughter does not live with me so this was all done remotely.
The 111 service sent two paramedics who did more than what was required to look after me and make sure I was alright. I had not eaten all day due to feeling so dizzy, Sarah and her colleague put together a meal for me and stayed with me. I'm sure they must all be very busy but for the time they were with me they made me feel that I was all that mattered and took their time without rushing. I really did not want to go to hospital as this would have worried my children more than they already do.
Ultimately they thought it best that I was seen by a doctor, they arranged for a doctor to come and see me for which I was very grateful. The Doctor again took his time to go through everything with me and gave me an injection that has made me feel much better.
I cannot thank the paramedics enough for their help and support. They did finally accept a cup of tea and coffee but could not be persuaded to accept anything else as a token of my gratitude.
