"Fabulous"

About: Darent Valley Hospital

What I liked

I loved my whole birth experience at Darenth Valley. From going into the antenatal unit at 9am to being transferred to delivery ward at 10am, every staff member I met was so lovely, supportive and kind. My midwife was second to none, and absolutly brilliant. Although I was in a while ago (last December) I didnt realise this was here, and just wanted to say how fab everyone was.

The only small negative I would say is I felt I was a bit of a pain to the night staff on the ward if I pressed the buzzer for help, I could have done with a bit more help but felt afraid to ask. Also my bed was broken, the control by the head of the bed wouldnt work and only worked off the bottom control, its hard getting down to that control when you have multiple stiches! Nurse said they knew about it which made me wonder why that bed was still being used?

Please pass on to my midwife how fab she made my experience for me, my partner and my mum, it was a wonderful experience I will never forget.

What could be improved

Possibly the night staff, felt too afraid to ask!

Thank you so much for your positive feedback, which is really good to hear. The Head of Midwifery will feed back your comments regarding buzzers to the night staff - it is so important that mothers feel they can ask for help, so they must be responded to positively. She will also look into the bed problems for you.

Kind regards

Jenny Kay, Director of Nursing
