"Lack of services for young people"

About: North East London NHS Foundation Trust / Child and adolescent mental health

(as a parent/guardian),

I have been trying to get help for my child for years and I don't get anywhere. Referrals don't get put in and you end up waiting for years. My son has an EHC (Education, Health and Care), plan which is supposed to be a legal document (thats another joke) in this document it says that my child should be having regular therapy, however, this has never happened. Last year my son was nearly killed in a serious attack, he was refused counselling from the childrens assesment centre as he does not fit the criteria.

His only chance of help is at George Turle House but I feel I know we won't get an appointment. He was attacked 7 months ago and we are still waiting for my traumatised son to be seen. If he were an adult he would get help straight away. There is nowhere for children to go. I think George Turle House is a shocking service and children are constantly being let down. I have reported them to the Ombudsman in order to get an appointment. I have tried to get help since my child was in primary school, he is 15 now. I have given up hope of him getting the right support.
