"Treatment for Breast Cancer"

I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in Jan 2017 and had a left side masectomy, 6 x FEC chemotherapy and 15 x radiotherapy.  I finished active treatment in August 2017.  I have recently had breast reconstruction surgery (TUG Flap).  All my care has been given by Nottingham City Hospital

I would like to thank City Hospital and every single person that has been involved with my care since I was diagnosed in 2017 including my Breast Care Nurse, the Oncology Team, Radiotherapy Team, nurses and staff on Patient 2 ward and my surgeon and the nurses in the dressings clinic.

I have always been treated as an individual rather than a number and with compassion and respect.  The main things I would to say thank you for are as follows:

1) Always being able to contact my Breast Care Nurse when required and if she hasn't been available I have always received a call back from someone in her team

2) Everything with regards to my diagnosis / treatment has been very efficient in terms of appointments and follow up care and any concerns I have had have been listened to. 

3) The process of sorting my reconstruction operation was also straight forward and stress free.

4) I had some problems after my recent reconstruction operation which were just down to being statistically unlucky I think and I have had to have a further operation and extra stays in hospital.  The care from my surgeon and his entire surgical team i.e. anaesthetists and the Patience 2 ward nurses and dressings clinic has been amazing and has made an anxious time for me and my family so much easier to bear.
