I was admitted to ward D5 ten days ago after an emergency admission due to diverticulitis with a pelvic abscess.
I cannot commend highly enough the care and attention by the nursing staff on D5 - they were patient, thoughtful and helpful, even when clearly under pressure from a significant work load.
I was very impressed by one nurse, the ward sister and a student nurse/health care assistant.
However all the staff were really great.
I was very impressed with the new F1 doctors who really seemed caring and helpful. One young lady really took time to explain things to me.
Finally a big thank you to the consultants, I was very appreciative of one consultant's warm manner when i was having a `weepy` day.
I would appreciate if my warmest thanks were conveyed in particular to these individuals.
There are things over which the staff have little control - the weather was excessively hot and the ward was boiling. A challenge for both staff and patients and something the hospital trust should consider in terms of better ventilation or air conditioning.
But overall i cannot comment highly enough the care and attention I received at the hospital.
Sincerely,
Angela Seitler
