"anyone going to this hospital feel at ease"

About: Birmingham Women's Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I say that it was on ward 7, but it was actually ward 8, don't think it made that much difference though. The staff were absolutely fantastic, I couldn't have faulted any one of them. They really put me to ease about the whole operation. I was ill after the anaesthetic too, threw up all over the bed! The nurse was along straight away to change me and the sheets and blanket. The staff were all friendly. Was great to be able to chat to the surgeons and anaesthetists before the operation. They are all great people.

They looked after me so well right from the start right to when I went home. I was terrified about having the operation, it being my first ever general anaesthetic, I was really put at ease and the whole experience was great. I was meant to be able to go home at 2 o clock but I ended up going home about half 5 as I had to keep food down first.

For anyone going to this hospital feel at ease, the staff are very highly trained and you are really in the best hands around that you can be.

Response from Birmingham Women's NHS Foundation Trust

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback. I am pleased that your experience was so good. Your comments mean a lot to the nurses on the ward and the hospital as a whole. The staff at Birmingham Women’s Hospital are proud of their work here and the feeling at BWH is that they genuinely put the patient at the centre of what they do.

I showed the Manager on the ward your posting as soon as I was alerted to it and she passed it round the staff whilst I was there. The nurses were very touched.

With thanks and best wishes

Kathryn Bishop, Patient Experience Project Lead.
