"understanding what happens next - genetic testing"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Cardiology / Coronary Care Unit Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Genetics

(as a service user),

Following a recent diagnosis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and the various investigations involved, I recently attended genetics department, ARI.

Although I was unclear about what to expect the appointment allowed me and my wife to discuss the diagnosis and what happens next.  We provided information about the family tree and their known medical histories.  Hazel made us feel important and explained what happens next but clarified what to expect and what impact the tests may have.

I felt reassured that everything that can be done is being done.  I can continue to live my life and have started to make healthier choices (with the occasional slip).

Thanks to the team
