"Sheridan Ward, Thank you"

About: Hollins Park / Sheridan Ward

(as the patient),

As per my previous post I just wanted to thank everyone on Sheridan Ward for their excellent care over the past few weeks of my stay.

After a discussion with somebody I realised what helped me most and wanted to feed this back too.

During my stay I have had almost full control (where possible) over my care and my care plan. I planned my progress for the weeks ahead and I decided what I was or wasn't ready for. Doing this weekly plan (alone) and then having it agreed with nursing staff and the consultant has really helped me take steps forward and move on.

Also the brighter future booklet that I was given was really helpful and helped me see the positives about myself, my triggers, early warning signs and what to do if I feel unwell.

The staff couldnt have done more for me and I wish there was some way I could repay them. This 'crisis' is the worst I've experienced so far, everyone has done a fantastic job with helping me through it and I was never judged once.

I'd also like to point out that Im impressed with how staff deal with patients when they become agitated/worked up. In my time here I've never seen one person being dragged to seclusion (as I've witnessed on other wards, which is horrible)... instead they deal with it before things get to that point... remaining calm and having the ability to soothe people's distress before it becomes too much. I couldn't do your jobs, you all deserve medals!

Thank you once again! xxx
