"The best in Dementia care"

About: Oakvale Medical Centre

I have been a patient at Oakvale for 45 years and I have always found it an excellent service I know if I ring the surgery at about 8.30 I will get a call back from a doctor and if needed an appointment that day

The main reason for this review is the excellent care my husband have received since my husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease we were given a "Buddy" in the surgery for any problems we may have and I have called my buddy on many occasions and always received help in fact through a recent very bad patchwhen my husband was in the Royal hospital my buddy was phoning social workers and bedbrokerage people and specialists in dementia homes because I was on the point of a breakdown due to miss management.

She made the problem come to a good end result she also looked after me and saw that I was taken care of

My many friends who also have partners with Dementia wish that they too could have the same system in their Doctors surgery

Thank you to everyone any Oakvale and especially my Buddy for the wonderful care x

We take pride in training our staff to become dementia buddies and as you note, they will often go the extra mile to help loved ones and carers of patients with dementia, particularly at stressful times. We are so pleased you had a good outcome in the end with the help of your dementia buddy.
