"A & E Children's department"

About: Southampton General Hospital

My daughter was taken to the children's A&E department after a fall from a tree with head injury symptoms. The staff provided her with a bed after taking the first observation at a children's corner (as all the beds were taken at this point). As a senior staff member carried out an intensive examination listening to my daughter's heart, she discovered a heart murmur. The medical staff member was brilliant in explaining to me and my child everything and being very good at communicating to us. She put us at ease, talked to my daughter whilst I went on a coffee break and organised a heart scan right there and then. The medical staff taking the heart scan was drawing up the heart defect my daughter most likely has. I felt my daughter was looked after very well, they did a brain scan as symptoms did not improve. Again, staff explained it very clearly and reassuringly. I just want to say a huge thank you to all the hard working and lovely medical staff members working there!!!
