"THE WORST - GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE!"

About: De Montfort Surgery

Do yourself a favour and go anywhere but De Montfort Surgery. It offers an absolutely shambolic level of service. I've been registered for five months - and it's been one thing after another. The level of customer service is absolutely appalling and there's little point in complaining, as the managers fail to adequately address your concerns. Take note of all the negative reviews and choose another surgery. Staff and students of DMU (and local residents) deserve so much better.

It was an absolute nightmare for me just to register with this surgery. It took me the best part of TWO MONTHS to register as a patient - something which takes a couple of hours, if that, elsewhere. The reception staff are extremely disorganised and lack the basics in customer service when it comes to knowing the surgery's procedures. I tried to register online, via email, by phone, by filling in a paper form AND visiting the surgery in person on several occasions. But with no luck - I was repeatedly told that there was a delay and I wasn't yet registered. Except they couldn't really explain what the delay was or why a simple registration was taking so long.

To make matters 10 times worse, I was 12 weeks pregnant time at the time and I urgently needed to see a midwife. But this certainly didn't hurry them along - there was no urgency whatsoever! I kept being told I couldn't make a midwife's appointment without being registered with a GP - something the surgery's inefficiency continued to delay! It was so frustrating. I was eventually registered as a temporary patient - but only after I'd demanded to see the Practice Manager. Ironically the manager registered me there and then as a patient, showing me how easy it should have been. But it was too little too late - by this point, I had no choice but to go elsewhere for my midwifery services.

Once registered, the problems continued. As a temporary patient, my registration lapsed after 3 months. Even though I had not been informed, I was no longer a patient again! When my midwife called to try to order a repeat prescription on my behalf, she was told rather rudely that 'they had no idea who I was as I wasn't a patient there.' The manager told me my registration would be automatically renewed for the 6 months I was in Leicester. In light of all the problems I'd encountered, she said it was the least she could do - but obviously not!

The one time I tried to make a GP's appt was a complete joke. I tried to make an appt in advance and I was told I could only make an appt for that day. The reception staff lack manners, organisation and you end up discussing private issues with them in the middle of a busy waiting room - there is little patient privacy or confidentiality. To be able to make an appt, I was actually advised that a GP would have to call me back later that day to discuss it further. The GP made me an appt on the date I wanted. But what a complete waste of a GP's time and resources.

Go somewhere else!
