"A great doctor"

I wanted to be able to praise a doctor who treated my three year old daughter, and this is the only way I could find a way to do that - so here goes.

After several frustrating weeks of seeing numerous GP’s, and visiting Barnsley A & E to see several emergency medicine doctors, and two previous ENT doctors my daughter was still in agony with an ear infection which would not subside. Although staff were pleasant and waiting times were adequate we as parents were becoming concerned that the problem wasn’t being taken seriously.

The third specialist ENT doctor we saw was Dr Hutchinson. This doctor first came to see us in the A & E department before referring us to an emergency appointment in the ENT department the following day, and a further follow up one week later. He was the only doctor to discuss, and prescribe anti-biotic ear drops as oppose to the three different types of oral anti-biotics we had previously been given which had failed to treat the problem. He also syringed the abundance of discharge from our daughters ear, both of these things seemed quite an obvious step to take, yet several doctors had not approached the problem with this level of intervention. 

Most importantly this doctor had a really great manor about him. He was very good with our three year old who was very distressed and not a massive fan of people shoving things in her ear. He was kind, caring and very easy to talk to - something that can’t be said for every doctor you see. He explained things clearly, in simple terms and really made an impression on my wife and I, who have both worked in the public sector for most of our lives. 

I don’t normally write reviews, but this doctor should know he is doing a great job, and really stood out to us. Thank you.
