I went into A&E yesterday for a possible septic joint and was seen quite quickly but was almost there for 4 hours waiting for blood test results but fortunately took a book with me to occupy me. All the staff were very pleasant I spoke to and kept me informed especially my dr seeing me, I was lucky they came round with a food or drink trolley when I arrived but never saw it again so not so good for patients arriving after me.
I also felt exposed since my curtain was left open on my bay unless I had tests so felt everyone was looking and judging me. Found it quite hard to grab someone attention since no button to call and had to just try and get someone when they walked past.
Also had a situation where by accident, I almost had a test I wasn't suppose to have done on me but, fortuantely due to my knowledge and overhearing conversations in the bay next to me realised the nurse had gone to the wrong person and directed her to the right one.
The really downside of the visit was the parking was awful and signage was confusing and there was no A&E drop off point so had to go in the car park. My mum took me fortunately but it left her stressed since she had to reverse on some occasions since dead ends and no where to turn around and when we finally parked the parking attended parked us somewhere that wasn't really a space so she dropped me off and left and came back later when I was discharged.
