"Incompetence"

About: Maybush Medical Centre

I am told that I am due an annual review (8 months after my last one) and I should contact the surgery to make an appointment which I did, only to be told that the surgery is not open at weekends and the phlebotomist does not work on a Friday, nor is it possible to have blood taken afte 12:30 Mon-Fri.

I explained it was difficult to get time off work and agrred to call later.

i eventually got a day off work and booked an appointment in person for 12:00 on Thu 21 June - the only slot available.

This meant I was unable to go off for the day as the appointment was mid day.

When I arrived at the surgery I was told that the appointment was not made and I would have to re-book.

I explained the difficult in getting an appointment was the limited service provided by the surgery.

To add insult to injury even though I had explained my situation and had booked an appointment, they wrote a 2nd invite letter to make an appointment.

The is currnetly debate about charging £10 for missed appointments.

What about £10 compensation for appointments not put on the system?

Or a days wages?

For a while now I have considered moving to another practice - maybe now is the time.

This practice does not deserve even one star.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback.

We cannot consider service improvements without this, although we would always encourage patients to contact us at the Practice so that we can deal with your issues directly.

Unfortunately we are not able to take bloods late in the afternoon as we need to meet the timing of the collection service from the hospital, so in order to ensure we make this, all bloods are done in the morning.

There is an evening and weekend nurse service operating from Trinity Medical Centre but they are unable to do blood tests at the moment.

This is something that is in development and will be available shortly so hopefully next time this will be more convenient for you.

I'm sorry that when you did arrive for your 12 noon appointment this appears to be unbooked.

I will need to know more details about the patient and the appointment in order to investigate this properly.

I would like to take this opportunity to quash any debate about charging patients for missed appointment.

This is completely unfounded.

The NHS is free at the point of contact for any persons in the UK and will continue to remain so.

As a patient, it is your right to register at a Practice of your choice within your catchment area, but I do hope your confidence can be restored and that we can continue to provide you with your care needs.

Thank you again for helping us to help you.

Please contact the surgery if you would like to discuss this matter further.
