Had my first baby at Lewisham birth centre in June 2017. As I had just moved from north London, i hadn't registered with them yet as my baby arrived early! The staff were lovely and let me go to the birth centre. They made it as relaxing as possible for me. My midwife kept a close eye on me whilst also keeping her distance and only intervening when necessary. Once my daughter was born my partner and i were brought tea and a bit of food and given some time to get some rest in the double bed.
Following the birth I was allowed to stay in a room in the birth centre all day and have my numerous family members come to visit. All the staff were lovely.
We were transferred to the postnatal ward in the evening as the birth centre was full and I needed to stay overnight. I didn't particularly enjoy being on the ward and would recommend going to the birth centre if you can.
Thank you to all the wonderful staff for making this such a positive experience for me!
"Great experience"
